Improving Clevedon's Marine Lake and seafront for the summer

New changing room and toilets for Marine Lake

I am pleased to say that, following my announcement of the Great Lakes Project last year, in which Clevedon recieved an £150,000 grant from North Somerset Council, initial works have now been completed (more to follow!).

On Friday the 27th May, an accessible changing room and toilets were opened by the lake. MARLENS, the charity that runs Clevedon Marine Lake, funded this with financial support from North Somerset Council. This is part of a wider set of works to make the Marine Lake accessible to a wider range of people, as reported by the BBC earlier this month. The lake will become fully wheelchair accessible by the summer.

Other Support for Clevedon Seafront

Clevedon Skate Project have been awarded £35,000 for the installation of a shipping container on the Salthouse Fields. This will act both as storage and a base for community outreach projects. Work on the restoration and protection of Clevedon Slipway (see picture) will also take place in order to maintain safe access to the sea.

It is nice to see development on Clevedon seafront progressing well. North Somerset Council will continue to work with local organisations to make Clevedon seafront fit for purpose and accessible for all.
