Decommissioned offshore oil platform repurposed as art installation

This summer Weston-super-Mare will host SEE MONSTER , a free public art installation that will see an oil rig installed in Westons former 1930's lido, the Tropicana. This week an artist associated with the project published this image of what it could look like:

SEE MONSTER is part of UNBOXED, a national collection of events aimed at celebrating creativity across the UK. It is funded largely from national Government (I believe it was an initiative of Theresa May) and North Somerset Council successfully bid to host one of the 10 national exhibition sites.

In 2015 the Tropicana successfully hosted Banksys Dismaland exhibition. It is hoped that this exhibition will be just as successful with 200,000 people expected to visit. North Somerset Council is investing to make this event a success for everyone, extra money has been found to upgrade the seafront lights and to refurbish out historic seafront shelters.

You can find out more by visiting the SEE MONSTER website.
