A budget to protect our core services and invest for the future

Last week I presented, and gained approval for, the Councils annual budget. With an overall theme of protection and investment, the priorities of the budget are to;

  • back our children and young people
  • deliver better basic services
  • invest in our communities
  • tackle the climate emergency

An additional £40 million of investment was announced which is in addition to the £300 million already committed for long term investment in local projects.

The previous administration of North Somerset Council introduced cuts to basic services over many years. I was pleased to announce that yet again we have protected all front line services.

I recorded this short video to give a flavour of what we've done....
