Before I got involved with my local councils, first as a Parish Councillor and then in 2019 when I was elected to North Somerset Council, I had very little understanding about the green belt. I would say that my understanding was limited to knowing that it was a good thing and we needed to preserve it.
Over the past few years, as the threat to our local Green Belt in North Somerset has increased, my understanding of the reality of the green belt has increased. Last weekend I put together a short (3.5 minute) video to cover the history, myth and reality of the greenbelt.
It is far from perfect but covers some of the main things I have learned. I thought I would share as others may find it useful.
