We've prosecuted a fly tipper....

I thought people would like to know that we've prosecuted a fly tipper. I have been keen to see more action on fly tipping so this is good news. it is the first prosecution in over 4 years.

Between July and November last year council officers were found evidence of significant fly tipping in Abbots Leigh/Pool, Dundry, and Felton. By contacting the individuals whose waste was fly tipped they managed to identify that Richard Young had collected the waste and then dumped it in North Somerset using a van with the business name C.Y Landscapes and Garden Maintenance printed on the side. In one location more than seven tonnes of waste was found blocking a bridleway.

Richard Young of Perrycroft Road, Bristol was given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, during which he must complete 200 hours unpaid work, and was ordered to pay the council's investigation, legal and clean-up costs totalling £6,358.01.

I know waste dumped near us is also checked for evidence and at times a camera is placed to try and catch people in the act.
